Yes, this is she.

My cell phone just vibrated at my work desk so I picked it up -

Me: Hello?
Caller: Is this Heidi Hansen?
Me: Yes, this is she.
Caller: This is Wxxxx Bxxxxxxx, a special investigator with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Silence...dead silence...gulp - um - okay...
My brain and stomach go - WHAT THE HECK DID I DO?

She explains why she's callings, sets an appointment to come to my work tomorrow and meet with me, and everything is totally fine and kosher - but why is my guilt complex the first thing to kick in? I'm really not a bad girl, I don't do horrible things - I'm just quick to assume the worst and feel like I'm being hauled off to federal prison.

I seriously have watched to many episodes of 24 and Criminal Minds and Law & Order - I need to stop watching TV and remember I'm a good girl...really, I promise, I am...

(at least my grammar was correct - I tell you I am a good girl)

Ha ha I love it! Were they doing a background check on a friend/acquaintance? That happened to James. I really think it is the tv shows that do it to us. Whenever I hear a siren, I always imagine myself in a police interview room trying to prove my innocence. The worst is, I never really have an alibi - unless facebook comments are convincing as alaibis....

Whoa, now I want to know...you know if you can tell. Brad and I watch too much L&O, CSI, and such. Maybe it means we are smart in a twisted crime solving/lawyer wannabie sort of way?

lol - Heidi, I'll tell. Charity was right. I'm working for a federal consulting agency in Washington DC, which requires a background investigation. Heidi was a gem and agreed to be one of my references. Sorry it's not as sexy/glamorous as the cloak and dagger CSI shows :) if you want to make it sound really mysterious, though, all I can tell you is that I can't tell you any more than that...otherwise I may be the body that gets found ;)

Yeah - and they consider the mission an unexplained part of life where she was unemployed and not in contact with family or in school etc, so they needed someone to describe her daily activities and 'splain exactly what she was doing for 18 mysterious months....
