Another busy week...and a really long post

We took Addison to the park and tried out her stroller. She slept through the whole event! But we have been on several walks since then and she does really well even if she is awake.
Addison met her Uncle Nick in person on her daddy's birthday. He sure is smitten by her...
Oliver was able to take the day off work and be home with us on his birthday. We went to Addison's two week check up (at 10 days) and she now weighs 8 pounds 13 ounces and is 21 inches long. I can't believe how fast she is growing and changing! In the evening we went to Oliver's parents home for dinner and birthday cake/pie/tart. Here's Oliver cutting his dessert and tolerating Nick.
For his birthday, the whole family went in together to buy Oliver a new desk. He would now like to work from home since his desk at the house is bigger than the one in his office at work. I would love that - too bad it isn't happening. Here we are putting it together.
Assembling...
Success! (and really bad lighting)
While Oliver's at work Addison and I stay home and play together (she mostly sleeps and eats). But she has "activity time" after each feeding. Here is her having tummy time - as you can see she is a strong kicker and propels herself right up and over. I'm not sure if this still counts as tummy time when all her weight is on her head.
What's funny is she'll lay like that for more then 5 minutes perfectly happy with her new vantage point.
Addison's second cousin was due the exact same day. Emily decided to come early (they are exactly four weeks apart). Emily and her mom came up to visit this past weekend and so we took the first, of what I'm sure will be several, pictures of them together.
Yep, Addison's just a little bigger than Ms. Emily :)
It was a very exciting day when daddy found Addison's cord during a diaper change. He yelled from the other room for me to come quick and bring the camera. As you can see, she wasn't too thrilled to have to pose for the picture - she just wanted her bum cleaned.
This past Sunday was a very eventful evening. WE started out by visiting the Hansen great-grandparents. They hadn't met her yet and were really excited that she came to visit. Grandpa Hansen held her for a few minutes.
Then we took a four generation Hansen picture of Addison, her dad (Oliver), Oliver's dad (David) and David's dad (Farr). It's so fun to be so close to family and for her to get to know so many of her relatives.
After visiting at the Hansen's we went to see Oliver's other grandparents. Addison wasn't as happy at that point and mom and her spent most of their time in Grandpa's room feeding. So there aren't any pictures. From the Lyon grandparents home we went to the baby blessing of cousin Aiden. He was blessed at his grandparents home just down the street from Oliver's grandparents.
Here is my sister's beautiful family after the blessing. Evan did a wonderful job!
And here we are with the two newest additions to our family.
Addison is a great sleeper during the night and she is getting a little better about napping during the day. The other day I went in to wake her from her nap to eat and she had undressed herself. She is so cute!
Oliver finally put batteries in her swing and she tried it out - you can tell she loves it, right? To a baby sleeping=love, right?
Oliver and I were really excited when Addison's cord finally fell off because it meant that she can now take real baths. She didn't love being wiped down by a washcloth and so we were looking forward to the change.
She loved being in the bathtub.
Addison really loves her dad and she gets so excited when he talks to her. She kicks and flails her arms in excitement.
And this is where the bath-time fell apart. Oliver got her out of the tub and she decided that she wasn't dried off and clothed fast enough and hollered really loudly. She looks kind of cold - but we all survived and are still learning. (To Oliver's defense, when mom bathed her two days later she still hollered after getting taken out of the water and dressed...maybe that's just what babies do.)
As you can see we're all having a great time and learning lots of new things and having a lot of new experiences. Time is passing so quickly its unbelievable but we are all still very much in love.

Meeting Cousins

Addison doesn't have many first cousins - in fact - so far she only has two. They came over to meet her on Saturday and her cousin Kyle is so cute with her...well he's so cute with all babies really. Aunt Holly helped Kyle hold her and he loved her binki and giving her kisses and buckling her car seat. I think he was in heaven because there were two car seats to play with instead of just his little brothers.
We tried to get a quick picture of the cousins all together but Kyle wasn't having it. This is the only picture I snapped but it is representative of how the evening was going.
Aiden and Addison had a much more agreeable time posing for their moms.
Aiden is 4 weeks and a day older then Addison and I'm sure we'll get more pictures of them soon. Yay for having cousins that live so close! We'll enjoy it while we can!

(and hopefully next time we see them we can get pictures of her with Aunt Holly and Uncle Evan too)

Family Picture

She's still perfect. We had a quick family picture taken when we went and had Addison's new born photos done. I'll post more great pics to Addison soon. But for now - we're more blissfully happy then we even thought possible.
Also, she had her two week doctor appointment yesterday (at 10 days old) and she has grown 2 inches and now weighs 8 pounds 13 ounces. I can't believe how fast she is growing!

First Week

I can't believe how quickly a week passes. As you can imagine, our lives are mostly consumed by Ms. Addison. We have spent a lot of time just being together and it has been great. Here are pictures of some of the fun things we have done.

We had a picnic dinner in our backyard. Our neighbor brought us a picnic dinner and so we got out the blanket and enjoyed a cool evening in our yard. Dad fed Addison her dinner (well the first ounce of it).
Addison spends time with dad in his office while he works. Unfortunately, Oliver has had to work all week because he just started a new job and they have been working to close the month all week. It hasn't been ideal but we are blessed that he is employed and loving what he does. So we are making the most of it.
Addison likes to be read to - so far dad has been favoring the Rollie Pollie Ollie books, but sometimes they are a little long for her taste so we might try something a little shorter.
And, of course, there is a whole lot of sleeping happening in our house. Addison is actually a great sleeper - she eats about every 3 hours during the day, but then she has been gifting us with one longer sleep at night. Two nights in a row she slept 6 hours and the other nights has been 4 to 5 hours in one stretch. Mom is loving it and dad wouldn't hear her even if she was up every 2 hours...but he loves that it makes mom so happy.
Lastly, we have been trying out a lot of different outfits and bows all week. This outfit came from Pike Place Market (Seattle). Uncle Taylor and Aunt Emily brought it for Addison last time they were home. Unfortunately, she only got to wear it for part of the morning because she managed to spit up really well while wearing it.

Day 2

She's still really cute...but that's not that hard for her and we sure love her a lot. Our first family picture.
Meeting Uncle Nick for the first time on Skype (she also met Uncle Taylor and soon to be Aunt Emily - but Heidi was already in bed at that time so there's no picture).
This is Heidi's new favorite picture of Addison.
New feet.
Sleeping with dad on the comfy hospital couch.
Dressed and ready to go home.
Coming in the house.
Dad trying to feed Addison a bottle...she wasn't interested.
Bundled after her first bath at home.

A New Author

I'm the Hansen's newest author on the family blog and I am so happy to finally be here (still known as Baby X - but not for much longer). Dad took my picture right after I came out. I was awake and alert and watching everything that was going on...no drugs in my body to make me drowsy...I was feeling great!
But I was in total protest of nurse Laura who stuck quite a few needles in my legs. And mad at dad for helping hold me down!
My mom required a bunch of repair work so other than a brief hello my dad held me for the first hour and a half. My mom was looking pretty tired by the time she got to meet me but she was really excited to finally get to hold me after all that time! Dad and I had a great time bonding though and he would keep telling my mom what I was doing and what was going on.
This is my delivery nurse Laura. She is from a town where my mom served her mission and then for the last 8 years she has been living in Oregon and working at OHSU where my mom is from. She said that almost half the women who deliver at OHSU do so naturally and so she was really helpful to my parents in helping me come into the world. It was amazing how many connections they shared together and she was wonderful!
My first visitors were my grandma and grandpa Hansen. They brought me a cuter sleeper then the one that hospital had and my grandma Hansen was the first one to ever change my clothes. She sure does love me and was really excited to finally meet me.
My parents' best friend Missy also came to really quickly say Hello. She was on her way out of town so she only got to be here for about 15 minutes - but it was wonderful to meet her. She brought my parents Jamba Juice and told me she loved me. She promised to come back tomorrow when she gets back to town. I hear she has been stocking my wardrobe for months - I can't wait to get home and see all my cute clothes!
After I quickly met Missy my grandpa held me for a long time. It was great! He knew I was a girl from the very day my parents told him that I was coming. We've been waiting a long time to meet!
Grandma and Grandpa also brought me my first birthday cake to celebrate my Birth day. I didn't get to have any (unless you count getting if from mom by nursing) but it looked wonderful and was really thoughtful!
This is my mom's favorite picture from my first day on earth. Dad did a great job making sure to document all the important events of my first day.
My mom's a little sad that she was so out of it that she didn't get any pictures of dad holding me yesterday - in fact we didn't even take a family picture. But she promises that we will today. She did take a few pictures of dad giving me my first bath - it was awesome that they were both there for my first bath! Mom could just sit on the edge of her bed and watch 'cause she lost too much blood to stand for very long so dad did all the bathing.
When the nurse washed my hair I wasn't so sure about it happening. I was screaming really loudly - but dad held my hand and I felt a lot better. After a few moments I calmed down and realized that it was nice to get so nice and cleaned up and then I enjoyed myself.
After my bath then dad dressed me in the other outfit that grandma and grandpa brought. He was a little unsure of himself, but we're learning together. There are so many new things going on and it is overwhelming but we're doing great.
After dad dressed me then my mom got to hold me again. She loves me a lot and keeps saying how perfect I look. I guess my head bones didn't fold over the way they are supposed to and so I look like a c-section baby (whatever that means) - perfect and beautiful is what everyone keeps saying.
So that's about all there is to tell about my first day. Maybe you want to hear my stats -
Born: 11:41 am
Weighed: 8 pounds 6 ounces
Length: 19 inches
Head Circumference: 34 cm
Perfect - that's what I am and I'll be back later to tell you more!
