Maybe Unsafe

I leave for work between 6:40 and 7 am. Today was no different.

Addison is getting heavy and we leave her bucket car seat in the car and usually just carry her around instead.

The car seat was in the car I drove to work this morning.

Oliver was home and needed to drop Addison at the sitter but had no car seat for her.

Oliver called my cell phone which I am in the habit of never answering and this morning was no different.

Oliver was left to problem solve on his own.

* Did he install her new car seat forward facing and just decide to turn her around too early?
* Did he put her in the bike trailer and bike her barely over a mile to the sitter?
* Did he put her in her stroller and walk for less than 15 minutes to get her there?
* Did he put pillows and blankets in the front seat and strap her in and figure it just wasn't that far and at least he could grab her to keep her from falling over?

Lest we incriminate ourselves or present ourselves as bad parents I will just let you decide.

But I will give you a little hint, a mother's worst nightmare would be your best guess in this case.

Haha... I am dying of laughter! I'm sure it wasn't funny at all at the time, but it's a pretty good story! I've driven away with Grace's forward facing carseat several times, and Steve has had to put her in her old carseat (probably not safe)... she looks HUGE in it! She still meets the weight limits but her head sits at the top and her knees nearly reach the end.

Hey - we used to just put my cousin at my aunt's feet in a big old suburban on the floor when she was a baby. I don't even remember having seatbelts until I was around 10 years old. :)

Oh my goodness, Heidi! I would KILL Jason! Poor dads - he probably thought it was a great, creative idea!

Too funny. Just remember we all survived and so did our parents! You aren't bad parents either, it happens.

Well the good news is that it didn't end in a real nightmare!! That is definitely enough to give any mom more than a little anxiety!!

My grandma used to have this little sign hanging on her wall that had a little dog labeled 'husband' on it that you could move in or out of the doghouse. I never understood why the dog was always in the doghouse until I got married myself, and even more when we had Sam. =)

Did you know the bike trailer is almost as unsafe until the age of one (+)? Same with jogging strollers... just a little fact I just came across. It jostles their little heads around too much, and could cause the brain to hit the skull too hard.
I am sure, as a mother, I have done equally horrible things though. Not sure what at the moment, bu there has to be something. ;) I survived my parents and they theirs. It is just the circle of parenting… wait until you have a few more, you will find that things that appall you now, are not so bad. Maybe
I am just a bad mom (TEEHEE)!
Really, I am glad she is okay. SOOO many things could have gone wrong (if indeed I am assuming the story ends with the pillows and blankets in the front seat). It will be a story to laugh about in a really LOOONNGGG time! And I am sure it is something your hubby will NEVER do again, so all future children will be safe- The life of the eldest!
